TQM CONSULTANTS CO. TQM and our consultants have accumulated years of hands-on experience serving as the External Judge for the Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Quality run by the Trade & Industry Department of the Government of HKSAR.

In 2002, TQM started to concentrate on providing Consultancy and Training Support services to help companies improve their operations, prepare for and achieve various awards and recognitions.

1. Biu Chun Watch Hands & Parts Manufacturers Limited

Biu Chun Watch Hands & Parts Manufacturers Ltd. was established in 1985. Her Headquarter is located in Hong Kong with the functions of Sales & Marketing and other administrative works, while production is in China. Its target market includes Korea, Taiwan, India and other countries.
Biu Chun realized that performance assessment by industry standard and internal benchmark is the important technique to evaluate corporate performance and conduct self motivation. Therefore, they invited TQM to provide reference standard, establish quality management system and provide quality skills training, to improve the system of handling customer complaints and promote 6S (5S and safety) and enable Biu Chun to participate the competition of the「2003 Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Quality Award」.

Project Scope

  1. Assisted Biu Chun to prepare for participating in the 2003 Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Quality; and provided advice on better data analysis, reporting and presentation
  2. Reviewed the current situation against the Assessment Criteria of the 2003 Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Quality
  3. Benchmarked and improved operations such as customer relationship management, product development, etc. through market research and analysis
  4. Assisted in preparing Submission and Presentation Materials and rehearsing for the competition
  5. Provided appropriate training and internal competitions to improve organizational performance

  • Achieved the Merit Award in the HK Awards for Industry: Quality 2003 successfully

2. Fujikon Industrial Holdings Limited

Fujikon Industrial Holdings Limited was founded in 1982. It is a leader in the design, manufacturing, and sale of a wide range of electro-acoustic products. They are also the first electro-acoustic manufacturing company listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2000. Striving for further improvement, Fujikon invited TQM whose professional consultants have accumulated 6 consecutive years (1997 – 2002) of hands-on experience serving as the External Judge for the Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Quality for the Industry / Trade & Industry Department, to assist it to prepare for participating in the 2002 Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Productivity and 2002 HKMA Quality Award.

Project Scope

  1. Assisted in the participation of HK Awards for Industry: Export Marketing and Quality
  2. Reviewed current situation against the Assessment Criteria of the 2002 Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Export Marketing and Quality, identify the gap and establish improvement project 
  3. Recommended Strategies and Methodologies for preparing, and facilitated work teams to formulate the theme and organize the relevant information
  4. Assisted in preparing the Submission and Presentation Materials
  5. Assisted in Rehearsing for the Competition and gave final advice
  6. Provided appropriate training on improving the organizational performance

  • Received the First runner-up of the Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Quality out of total 28 participants in 2002

3. Hang Yick Properties Management Limited

Hang Yick Properties Management Limited has been running for more than 30 years since 1974. It manages more than 160 developments with a total number of 45,000 units. "Hang Yick" provides comprehensive property services, emphasizing on customers' need. In order to provide quality services for its customers, "Hang Yick" invited TQM CONSULTANTS CO. LIMITED to implement improvement project, to hold more information and opportunities.

Project Scope

  1. Carried out an in-depth management system review program to explore the weaknesses and opportunities in Hang Yick
  2. Streamlined work flows and eliminated non-value added activities
  3. Modified and consolidated existing system documents according to the optimized work flow
  4. Located opportunities for using Information Technology

Achievements

  • Measured individual’s performance from financial, internal, customer and learning & growth perspectives, using manageable number of Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Retained the good people through improving internal communications, introducing 360º performance appraisal system, organizing training for career development, encouraging teamwork, reviewing the remuneration package and resources planning, and enhanced Human Resources Management

4. Harper Engineering (Macau) Limited

Harper Engineering (Macau) Limited (Harper) registered in 1971, is wholly owned subsidiary by Sime Darby Motor Group. Harper is an agent of BMW, Ford, Mitsubishi and Suzuki in Macau, and other special purpose vehicles, such as: fire engines, rescue/ breathing apparatus vehicles, ambulance, prisoners transport equipment etc. Harper' aim is to become Macau's unique best-of-wide integration automobile dealers, to provide customers with the best quality products and services, in response to the needs of the community in Macao. Therefore, Harper invited its old partner TQM to provide preparation work for attending Sime Darby Quality Award Competition.

Project Scope

  1. Prepared for participation in the Sime Darby Quality Award Competition
  2. Reviewed critically and studied the requirements and the scope of coverage of the six criteria of SDQA
  3. Assisted the collection and review of the current situation of Harper Engineering in the six areas
  4. Identified the gap between Harper Engineering’s current situation and the requirements of SDQA in various areas
  5. Recommended strategies and methodologies for rectifying the gap
  6. Analyzed the relevant data against the requirements of SDQA
  7. Recommended on a Reporting and Presentation Framework
  8. Prepared the application submission, subsequent report and presentation for Harper Engineering for the application of SDQA

Achievements

  • SDQA won in top four and attended the issue of Simedarby Group all over the world
  • Established a performance measurement system for improving the organizational performance and assisting in the system implementation

5. Jing Mei Industrial Limited

Jing Mei Industrial Limited (Jing Mei) is a vertically integrated surface finishing organization with 40 years’ ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) experience. One-stop manufacturing services include product design and development, mould design and fabrication, plastic injection moulding, surface finishing to final product assembly (including packaging into trade display packages). Jing Mei expected to enhance staff moral and improve its competitive advantage with the help and expertise of TQM.

Project Scope

  1. Conducted a Corporate Citizenship Campaign, tailor-made a set of assessment criteria on the condition of the current situation, toward achieving the company goal and internal customer satisfaction
  2. Provided Citizen and Social Morality Training and established Internal Review Policy and Competition Incentive Policy
  3. Facilitated in setting up a method for measuring achievements of the teams and coached the teams to help them make the projected progress
  4. Formed the judging panel and decided on the marking scheme of the Corporate Citizenship Competition
  5. Trained up the activity teams on making presentations on their achievement
  6. Assisted to arrange the Corporate Citizenship Competition, participating in the assessment
  7. Provided an Executive Summary for the Corporate Citizenship Competition

6. Hip Hing Construction Company Limited

Hip Hing Construction Company Limited (Hip Hing) is engaged in providing one-stop construction service. Hip Hing enables to integrate new knowledge and new technology to accurately cooperate with different developers, architects, designers, engineers, electronic and mechanical consultants and land designers' requirements. In 2002, Hip Hing participated the competition of 2002 Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Quality with the assistance of TQM.

Project Scope

  1. Benchmarked current situation against the Assessment Criteria of the 2002 Hong Kong Awards for Industry: Quality 
  2. Recommended Strategies and Methodologies for data collection
  3. Assisted in preparing the Submission and Presentation Materials
  4. Assisted in Rehearsing for the Competition and gave final advice
  5. Provided appropriate training on improving the performance and presentation

7. Sime Darby Motor Services Company Limited

Sime Darby Motor Services Company Limited is an importer and distributor of motor vehicles and heavy construction equipment. With diverse operational experience and an unrivalled business heritage, it is poised to take a leading position in the global business arena. To further improve the service level and quality, they invited TQM who has professional experience in quality and had provided ISO 9001 series services for them to assist them to prepare Sime Darby Quality Award.

Project Scope

  1. Conducted preparing for the Sime Darby Quality Award
  2. Reviewed the current situation and established improvement plan and management report system
  3. Advised on data collection, conducted presentation and recommended on further improvement areas
  4. A set of panorama achievement report for the management system and customer satisfaction was made focusing on Leadership and Management of Quality, Information and Analysis, Human Resource, Customers, Process and Organizational Results

8. Well Born Real Estate Management Limited

Well Born Real Estate Management Limited (Well Born) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Henderson Land Group. Since 1997, Well Born has set providing high-quality property management service as target, and has successively achieved ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System, ISO 14001:1996 Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001:1999 Occupational Health and Safety Management System certifications authorized by HKQAA, and upgraded to Integrated Management System (IMS) in 2004. To pursue continuous innovation and the improvement of service quality, Well Born invited its long-term partner TQM to assist it to participate the HKMA Quality Award.

Project Scope

  1. Conducted gap analysis and identify improvement rooms against the industry norms, international benchmarks and the assessment criteria of the HKMA Quality Award
  2. Benchmarked Well Born’s operational effectiveness and performance with the performance of previous winners of the HKMA Quality Award
  3. Looked into possibilities of operational improvements in different areas and communicated with Well Born’s management team on priorities, objectives and needs
  4. Customized an implementation program (including training) to meet Well Born’s particular requirements in relation to its business strategy, organizational structure and operational modes, and to accomplish business excellence
  5. Provided training program and practice coaching
  6. Provided training program to achieve business excellence to minimize gaps between company situation and award criteria
