With the rapid development and continuous increase in customer expectations and requirements, manufacturers are facing more and more challenges. To stay in good shape and possibly expand market share, entrepreneurs have to firstly deal with problems that hinder the efficiency and quality of their productions, including high production costs, mismatch of manpower etc.
In this respect, TQM Consultants Co. Ltd. had held a seminar on 12th November 2005, jointly organized with the Manufacturing Management & Technology Institute (MMTI) on the topic of LEAN management. The seminar took place at TQM's training center and obtained positive evaluations from participants.
The concept of "LEAN" was originated from Toyota's production system. It aims at using minimum resources to produce the desired products with the least time at the most appropriate location. The core idea is to eliminate waste thoroughly in various aspects, including manpower, materials, time etc., so as to increase overall productivity and efficiency. LEAN Manufacturing has developed from application in manufacturing to a widely-used management system. It has been applied to vehicles, machinofacture, and foods industries etc. LEAN Management and relevant LEAN tools are best solutions to present Enterprises' problems.
During the seminar, Ir. Dr. Aaron Tong, Managing Director of TQM and Mr. Michel Baudin, LEAN Business expert at MMTI, shared their consultancy experiences in LEAN projects done in Japan and Hong Kong. They shared real cases of successful Lean Management implementations which achieved improvements in productivity, product quality and clients satisfaction. After the seminar, participants gained insights on the effectiveness of Lean Management, and realize the application of LEAN to improve corporate operation, enhance productivity and reduce cost.
