The Shenzhen Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, Shenzhen Association for Quality and Hong Kong Quality Management Association jointly organized 'The 1st Pan Pearl River Delta Region Quality Forum' which was successfully held in Shenzhen from 25 to 27 October 2006.
The theme of the forum was "How Innovative Quality Management Culture enhances sustainable development of enterprises".
Our MD: Ir. Dr. Aaron W. K. TONG represented Manufacturing and Industrial Division of Hong Kong Institutions of Engineers (HKIE), was invited as the guest speaker to deliver a wonderful speech entitled "Innovation - Quality Management". Ir. Dr. TONG pointed out that - "Innovation needs to break through Stereotypes "but "Quality Management stress on Standardization", then is there a dilemma between "Innovation " and "Quality Management" ?
Through the vivid and lively speech which tracking back from the ancient times to the present day, Ir. Dr. TONG further clarified that: the long Chinese Nation History was not feudal and conservative. For example, the interaction between Standardization and Innovation was soundly demonstrated in the Chinese Literature such as Tang Poetry, Ci Poetry and Yuan Qu etc. On the other hand, according to the Research Report issued by American Society for Quality on 2005 - the connotation of Quality is changing.
Ir. Dr. TONG believed that Innovation and Quality are correlated - Just the same way that people thought about Productivity and Quality 20 years ago, bounded by limitations and contradictory views, but nowadays it is proven that both elements are closely related. The idea of Innovative Quality Management (Stereotype Breakthrough VS Rules Conformation) is currently in the chaos-based status in history of the Quality Management. It is waiting for a revolutionary change of Quality connotation in the near future.
