6 Sigma Training
Up-Today Industrial Co., Ltd(Up-Today)is a long-term client of TQM CONSULTANTS CO. LIMITED (TQM). A few years ago, Up-Today has already invited TQM to implement a series of certifications a few years ago. Up-Today is a company never ceases its steps towards excellence, and has a great interest in 6 Sigma which has been widely applied all over the world.

What is 6 Sigma? What is the connection between us? Why TQM's clients pay so much attention on it, such as Philips, Arrow and so on? For these points, TQM conducted 6 Sigma training for Up-Today's staffs early 2007.

Through the explanation of some basic concepts, the staffs in Up-Today have been deeply aware that: 6 Sigma exists around us. Indeed, the traditional statistics - Standard Deviation, what we have learnt in our high school, is 6 Sigma! The idea of 6 Sigma seems far-reached before, but in fact, it always goes with us.

The method of DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) is based on the cycle of PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Action), which is a further development of it. In essence, 6 Sigma suggests us to stand on a high point: that is to understand the process on business angle of view, but not only focus on operation and production.

Through the training, Up-Today's department heads and managers were deeply impressed by the Reverse Cause-Effect method of DMAIC model and attracted by lively examples given by Ir. Dr. Aaron W. K. TONG. Up-Today's staffs had a keen interest in Six Sigma. They said they would take the knowledge they have acquired and apply it to the daily work and life. Meanwhile, they appreciated that 6 Sigma also helped them to solve problems encountered in usual work and unanimously expressed willingness to participate in such courses.
